Day 01 SURABAYA AIRPORT - MOUNT BROMO TOURS - LAVA VIEW LODGE
Transfer from Surabaya airport to the small village of Cemoro Lawang in the Tengger region. The journey takes approximately three and a half hours, with possible stops en route to a leather-producing town and an Indonesian restaurant famous for its lamb satay. Overnight at Lava View Lodge, a unique lodge located on the rim of the Mt. Tengger crater with a superb view of Mt.Bromo, Mt. Batok and Mt. Kursi. If time permits, it is possible to walk through the countryside or go horseback riding in the area

Day 02 LAVA VIEW LODGE - MOUNT BROMO ADVENTURE TOURS - LAVA VIEW LODGE
4 a.m. departure with a 4WD vehicle to Mt. Pananjakan (2770m) to see the sunrise and the spectacular view over Mt. Bromo, Mt. Batok, and Mt. Kursi. From here you can also see Mt. Semeru, Java’s highest peak. This volcano is active and erupts, spewing clouds of ash and smoke, about twice every hour. Afterwards you will descend Mr. Pananjakan on foot, down a gorgeous mountain trail with stunning views across Mt. Tengger’s crater. Enjoy a hot buffet breakfast at the lodge before proceeding to Mt.Bromo by 4WD. From the parking area you will walk across the sand to the foot of Mt. Bromo, passing a Hindu temple along the way, and start the 30-45 minute climb to the top. Alternatively, you can hire a horse to take you most of the way up the volcano. Once you reach the top, you can peer down into this active volcano, where you can see steam constantly rising out of a vent in the centre. The top of Mt. Bromo also affords beautiful views of the surrounding sand sea and hardened lava flows of previous eruptions. Return to Lava Lodge to pack up and prepare for the 5-hour drive by 4WD to Mt. Semeru. The drive is beautiful and varied - you will drive across the sand sea, through a gorgeous valley, up to the top of the crater’s rim, through rainforest, traditional villages, rice fields and other agricultural lands before reaching the national park at the foot of Mt. Semeru. En route you will stop to visit the lakes at Ranu Pane and Ranu Regulo. If you’re lucky, you may be able to see traditional Hindu celebrations on the way. Near your destination you will stop at the volcano observatory at Mt. Sawur, near the silver bridge above the lava river from Mt. Semeru. Arrive at Mt. Semeru in time to enjoy dusk in the national park, as your guides set up camp (all camping equipment is provided). The elevation is around 600m, so the temperature is perfect for camping. Dinner will be served at the camp site, a combination of delicious Indonesian specialties from the nearby village, and potatoes cooked on the campfire. As night falls, the clouds surrounding Mt. Semeru begin to clear, revealing the silhouette of this impressive peak. From the darkness of the national park, you can see the lava erupting from Mt. Semeru, accompanied by the impressive rumbling and thundering of the volcano. With the bigger eruptions, even the rock falls can be heard. The absence of lights also brings out the amazing night sky – a rare sight in Java! 

Day 03 LAVA VIEW LODGE - MOUNT SEMERU SUNRISE - SURABAYA AIRPORT
Watch the sunrise on Mt. Semeru before departing from camp to return to Surabaya, a five-hour journey. En route, you will stop at a tea factory where you can see the tea production process and enjoy the magnificent views of the tea estates, with Mt. Semeru as a backdrop. The drive will also take you past a number of crater lakes, through villages and agricultural lands, and you will have lunch at a comfortable Indonesian restaurant. At the town of Probolinggo, you will switch from the 4WD vehicle to the Kijang for the remainder of the trip to the airport
